INTRODUCTION
This guide will help you with the installation of the Cognitech software, frame grabber cards and the licensing of the software. Please follow the instructions in this manual in order to achieve an error free installation.
Before you start installing any of the products please complete the following:
* Read the guidelines and make sure your system complies with the minimum requirements
* Discontinue any running programs
SOFTWARE INSTALLATION
The requirements listed below are minimum requirements and are absolutely necessary in order for the software to function correctly. Should your system not comply with the minimum configurations do not install the software or any of the other products. Upgrade your system first and only then you should install the software. Although you will be able to operate the software trouble free with the minimum requirements, it is certainly beneficial for the user to exceed these requirements.
REQUIREMENTS
WINDOWS 2000 SP2, 933 MHz Pentium III, 256 MB RAM, 1 GB of free HDD space, 1 free USB port, 16 MB Direct X video card, Direct X 8.1.
RECOMMEDATIONS
WINDOWS 2000 SP3, 2.4 GHz Pentium 4, 512 MB RAM, 10 GB of free HDD space, 1 free USB port, 64 MB Direct X video card, Direct X 9.0.
SOFTWARE INSTALLATION - VIDEO ACTIVE
Install Video Active from the CD by clicking on the "Video Active only" tab. The installation wizard will start. Follow the instuctions on the screen and make sure you select the correct frame grabber card during the installation process. Once the installation is completed click "finish" and remove the CD from the CDROM drive.
NOTE: IF YOU INSTALL VIDEO ACTIVE 4.0 YOU MUST ALSO UPGRADE YOUR VIDEO INVESTIGATOR.
SOFTWARE INSTALLATION - VIDEO INVESTIGATOR
Install the program from the CD by clicking on the "video investigator" tab. This will start the installation process and you will be guided through the wizard. For a default installation, you may click "next" throughout the wizard. If you want to change the default directory make the necessary changes when the wizard prompts you. Once the installation is completed you will need to click "finish" in the wizard. That will end the installation for the video investigator software.
If you have purchased the video investigator software only, you will also need to install the capturing environment software. This can be installed from the main window. Look for the "capturing environment only" tab and follow the wizard through the installation process.
If you have purchased the bundle software you will not need to install the capturing environment, since that will be included in the video active software.
FRAME GRABBER CARDS
Cognitech offers 3 different frame grabber cards :The "Prolive Source", "Advanced Live Source" and the "Mobile Pro Live Source". All three cards capture uncompressed and these are the only cards Cognitech supports. Please follow the driver installation carefully to prevent an incorrect installation.
The drivers are located on the same cd as the Cognitech software.
FRAME GRABBER CARDS - PRO LIVE SOURCE CARD
The drivers for this card can be found in the "pro live source drivers" folder. Start the installation by clicking on the setup.exe file. This will start the install wizard. Please follow the onscreen instructions.
FRAME GRABBER CARDS - ADVANCED PRO LIVE SOURCE CARD
The drivers for this card can be found in the "advanced pro live source drivers" folder. Start the installation by clicking on the vt2drivers.exe file. This will start the install wizard. Please follow the onscreen instructions.
FRAME GRABBER CARDS - MOBILE PRO LIVE SOURCE CARD
The drivers for this card can be found in the "mobile pro live source drivers" folder. Start the installation by clicking on the vt2drivers.exe file. This will start the install wizard. Pleae follow the onscreen instructions.
SOFTWARE LICENSE KEY
INTRODUCTION
The software was shipped with a USB key. This key must be present at all times (plugged into the USB port) in order for the software to be able to run. If you remove the key from the system while working with either one application, the program will stop running and you will lose your data.
IMPORTANT
If you lose the key, you lose your license and you will need to purchase a full license for both software again! So be very careful with your license key.
USB LICENSE KEY DRIVER INSTALLATION
The drivers for this key can be found in the "Dangle key USB" folder. Start the installation by clicking on the setup.exe file. This will start the install wizard. Please follow the onscreen instructions.
UTILITIES
ACROBAT READER
To read PDF files you will need to have an Acrobat Reader installed on your system. For your convince we have one provided on this cd.
The installation for Acrobat reader can be found in the "Utilities Acrobat Reader" folder. Start the installation by clicking on the setup.exe file. This will start the install wizard. Please follow the onscreen instructions.
DIRECT X
We have also provided the iinstallation for the Direct X, as it is a requirement for video active.
Locate the installation in the "utilities\direct X" folder. Start the installetion by clicking on the *.exe file. This will start the install wizard. Please follow the on screen instructions
