Cognitech software is available in English and Chinese.

• Does Cognitech software support audio as well as video?
NO. Our software is designed for video and image enhancement and analysis.
• Do I need to purchase Cognitech video capture card if I have a similar type?
a. The software only works with the Cognitech Video Acquisition cards
b. With the purchase of our software; Cognitech provides a Video Acquisition card complimentary.
• Does it matter what type of monitor I us?
NO. You can use any type of monitor.
• What is Cognitech’s warranty on its Workstations, Notebooks and hardware parts?
The warranty is provided by the hardware manufacturers.
• What is the difference between compressed and uncompressed file?
With compressed file you lose data. With uncompressed file you don’t lose any data.
• What is the difference between NTSC and PAL signals?
NTSC signal is used in the US and PAL signal is used in Europe and
Asia .
• Which connection is better to use for video input, composite or s-video?
S-Video is a recommended, but they both do the job.
• How accurate is the measurement in your software?
The margin of errors is less then 1 inch.
• Can we finance the software through Cognitech?
NO. We do accept credit cards or you can get funding via your loan offices.
• What is Disk Array?
It is an external set of hard drives that is designed for the capture of uncompressed video streams.
• Do I need to get Disk array?
NO. You don’t have to have a disk array, but we do recommend them.
• Can I play the Video Investigator (.cff or .cog) files with other software?
NO. .cff and .cog files are Cognitech proprietary file formats and can only be played back with our software.
• Do I have to be certified to present the outcome of the video in court?
NO. But it will be beneficial for you to have the certificate and the proper training on the software.
• Can I edit my video with your software?
NO. Our software is used for video enhancement only and not for post production purposes.
• How often do you release new updates?
We have two updates categories, Minor and Major. Minor updates are released once or twice a year, Major updates depending on new ideas and tools that can be released.
• Will your company testify as an expert witness in court?
Yes. You may contact our office for further details.
• If you release a new update, is the old version still supported?
YES. It will be supported to a certain version.
• Can Disk Array work on your Notebook?
YES. It depends on the make of Disk Array you use.
• Can Cognitech software capture video from Fire Wire 1394 devices?
YES. Video Active can capture video from fire wire devices.
• Does it matter what kind of VCR I use for video output?
We strongly recommend that you use professional equipment instead of commercial.
• Can the speed be controlled on the Video with Cognitech software?
YES. You have full control of the speed and the frames.
