Cognitech, Inc. Announces the Release of the Stand Alone 3D CSI AutoMeasure™ Software

Cognitech, Inc. Announces the Release of the Stand Alone 3D CSI AutoMeasure™ Software

Pasadena, CA — October 31, 2012 — Cognitech, Inc. has announced the release of Cognitech’s stand alone AutoMeasure™ software. Cognitech’s AutoMeasure™ software is the world’s most comprehensive automatic forensic photogrammetry software for 3D CSI measurements and biometric measurements of subjects and vehicles in CCTV video.

Cognitech’s AutoMeasure ™ software is the world’s only universal photo-video measurements software with fully automatic, any camera self-calibration for measuring any scene, including accident scenes, crime scenes, or subjects/vehicles/objects captured either by single or multiple view photos or videos with single or multiple cameras or video cameras. It can be used to measure linear, area, and volume dimensions and angles from any scene, provided the images of the scene exist or can be taken, and for any accurate measurement requesting application. It is equally applicable to land based and aerial imagery surveying and planning applications. Individuals and vehicles captured in the image can be comprehensively measured for the purpose of identification not to mention scene dimensions. Cognitech’s proprietary technology utilized here has been awarded several US Patents. The ability to derive accurate measurements does not depend on any extensive manual scene pre-measurements, the presence of linear structures or other markers, or the calibration knowledge and presence of the original evidence image camera. Cognitech’s AutoMeasure™ software user interface with automatic self-calibration is structured into a user-guided work-flow, and can be learned to be used in a matter of minutes. Accurate measurements from the crime scene can be performed by the investigator at any time by using available and prior collected scene images, even if the scene and the camera does not physically exist anymore.

Cognitech, Inc. CEO Dr. Lenny Rudin said, in regards to the release of Cognitech’s AutoMeasure™ software, “Any professional who needs to measure any scene while utilizing a photo or a video camera, rather than using tedious mechanical or expensive laser scanning tools, should review the comprehensive capabilities of Cognitech’s AutoMeasure™ software. Unlike traditional photogrammetry software, Cognitech’s AutoMeasure software does not quit when some or all of the evidence images come from an unknown/uncallibrated camera. Unlike other competing “forensic measurements” software plug-ins, which in reality are elementary geometry tools (i.e. they are not fit for professional photogrammetry), Cognitech’s AutoMeasure™ is a true full-featured professional 3D multi-view, stereo photogrammetric tool-set that does not depend on the presence of trivial, and not usually present data like perspective structural lines, etc. Cognitech’s patented automatic self calibration technology is currently the fastest high precision technology to determine internal camera calibration parameters needed for precision metrology.

Cognitech Announces latest technology for Accident Reconstruction at CA²RS Conference

Cognitech Announces the latest 3D VMap-Fusion™ and 3DRAMA® technology for Accident Reconstruction at the Fall CA²RS 2012 Conference and Exhibit

Pasadena, CA — October 31, 2012 — Cognitech, Inc. has announced their participation at the CA²RS 2012 Fall Conference and Exhibit in order to present their latest forensic 3-D VMap-Fusion and 3DRAMA software products, latest novel additions to the forensic video industry leader Cognitech Forensic Video Tri-Suite, which is designed to be used by Accident Reconstruction professionals. The Fall 2012 CA²RS Conference will be held in Lake Tahoe, CA from November 1-3, 2012.

CA²RS (or CAARS), the California Association of Accident Reconstruction Specialists, is a professional non-profit organization created to provide accident reconstruction training and resources to its members. The CA²RS 2012 Fall Conference will focus on a variety of topics related to motorcycle collision reconstruction and investigation, motorcycle crash tests, motorcycle glance patterns, motorcycle rider braking behavior, motorcycle slide data and motorcycle inspections.

Cognitech’s newest 3D video-videogrammetry software capability, called VMap-Fusion, enables the precise geographical positioning and kinematic tracking of accident data through 3D accurate fusion and reconstruction of videos from surveillance cameras and photo-maps such as Google Earth and MapQuest. Since 1994, Cognitech has pioneered the use of video- photogrammetry technology in large scale accident investigations such as the Boeing B-52 Stratofortress fatal crash at the Fairchild Air Force Base, which occurred on June 24, 1994. The then novel computational investigation results were published in the 1995 SPIE Vol. 2567 Proceedings of Investigative Image Processing. The novelty of the video-photogrammetry technology was to extend the prior known techniques developed in order to measure objects in photographs to an accurate kinematic and dynamic measurements derived from evidentiary video data. Cognitech’s forensic video photogrammetry AutoMeasure™ software is the latest generation of the software tools that were first developed by Cognitech’s scientists in order to analyze the famous B-52 mishap. Since that time, the entire industrial field of accident investigations has developed with tens of thousands of such investigations conducted each year, typically using photographic evidence. However, up until now, the investigators were lacking software tools that would provide the capability of extracting static and dynamic 3D evidence from accident sites that happen to have surveillance video cameras on the scene, which is a common case today. Cognitech’s newest video-photogrammetry software capability enables a precise geographical positioning with dynamic tracking analysis of accident data through Cognitech’s VMap-Fusion of the videos from surveillance cameras and photo-maps, such as Google Earth and others.

Also unveiled by Cognitech is the latest 3DRAMA®, the 360 degree panoramic stereo-photogrammetry software, used for accurate measurements and 3D reconstruction of the entire scene, 3D 360 degree volume. This is the first 360 degree panoramic stitching software on the world market which is photogrammetrically capable and will work with any acceptable resolution digital camera. The novel 3DRAMA photo-measuration technology will compete with orders of magnitude, with more expensive 3D laser scanning solutions and specialized 3D camera systems used by Accident Reconstruction and Crime Scene investigators, while preserving the speed and accuracy.

Cognitech, Inc. CEO Dr. Lenny Rudin said, in regards to Cognitech’s participation in the Fall 2012 CA²RS Conference, “The field of accident reconstruction is of a great value to the public. By scientifically analyzing the scene of the accident and combining all available evidentiary data, the true causes of the accident can be derived and documented. Moreover, future accidents and mishaps may be avoided or their harmful effects on people may be minimized, as a result. Cognitech’s newest 3D VMap-Fusion technology allows investigators to integrate the new piece of nowadays often available evidence, namely the surveillance video, hence making accident analysis more complete and effective. The Cognitech 3DRAMA technology makes the entire 360 degree volume of the accident scene measurable with an accurate, fast and highly affordable software solution, addressed before only by super expensive specialized hardware systems. The forensic video field companies understand the video enhancement applications, while photogrammetry and accident reconstruction companies specialize in 3D measurement applications. Cognitech, Inc. is a rare specimen of a company, whose R&D team has a deep understanding of both scientific video processing and 3D photogrammetry. Henceforth, we can offer completely novel software products that synergistically combine the best engineering ideas of both of the above fields combined. ”

About Cognitech, Inc.:

In 1994, Cognitech, Inc. was the first company that designed and developed the unique photogrammetric Measure software for use by forensic video investigators as a part of Cognitech’s Video Investigator tool-set. The recent scientific breakthroughs of Cognitech’s research team, and multiple USPTO Awards, proves that a quarter century later, Cognitech is still the true leader in the forensic image/video processing field. The uniquely comprehensive design of Cognitech’s forensic software combines the state of the art image/video/audio processing with the state of the art 3D photogrammetric analysis, all-in-one, thus making this software environment a tool of choice for Law Enforcement and Security professionals worldwide. By including its new and affordable 3D VMap-Fusion and 3DRAMA software tools, Cognitech makes a serious effort to address the urgent and emerging needs of the accident reconstruction industry.

Cognitech, Inc. Announces Release of Industry’s Fastest Mobile and Tower Supercomputing Forensic Video Workstations

Pasadena, CA — September 30, 2012—Cognitech, Inc. has announced the release of two classes of the industry’s fastest Forensic Video Workstations. Cognitech offers two versions of the Mobile Video Workstation in the laptop form-factor, the high-end CVW Mobile FRR version (a ‘laptop’ comprised of the powerful non-mobile mother board and processors, plus over a thousand graphical processing units) and the mid-range CVW Mobile BW version. Cognitech also offers two versions of the tower style Super Computing workstations, the super-fast CVW DeskTop FRR version (with over three thousand graphical processing units) and the fast CVW DeskTop BW version.  Both versions are integrated with Cognitech’s proprietary Forensic Video Tri-Suite parallel software, designed to fit the massive multi-processor architecture hardware in these workstations.

End-users of Cognitech’s CVW SuperComputer Tower will be able to capture any standard and high-definition (SD/HD) recorded forensic video evidence data, for example, they will be able to capture any CCTV DVR recording with Cognitech’s breakthrough lossless UNIVERSAL capture card, and to enhance and analyze this data with Cognitech’s Forensic Video-Audio Tri-Suite software. The end-users of Cognitech’s CVW Mobile workstation are presented with a choice of using Cognitech’s proprietary lossless USB video capture card, or the integrated third party SD/HD acquisition hardware. Cognitech’s Forensic Video-Audio Tri-Suite software system is comprised of three massively parallel and interoperable, comprehensive software tool sets: the Video Investigator® software, the VideoActive® software and the AutoMeasure™ software. The parallel algorithms underlying these software tools have been re-designed by Cognitech’s image processing scientists for a tenfold or higher computational acceleration, derived from the massive multi-processing, and multi-GPU-processing (thousands of GPU processors) hardware integrated into Cognitech’s newest Forensic Video Workstations. Cognitech’s Video Investigator software is the most comprehensive forensic video/image processing software environment in the world. It has over one hundred proprietary designed, user friendly plug-ins and module choices that enhance, denoise, remove blur, super-resolve, stabilize and stitch panoramic images of forensic video evidence (e.g. faces, license plates, and vehicles). Cognitech’s U.S. patented VideoActive software is the first fully automatic real-time universal de-multiplexing software. It includes a real-time track and cover and real-time universal DVR capture capability. Cognitech’s VideoActive software allows for patented lossless video capture with encoding that doubles the video storage. Cognitech’s AutoMeasure software is the world’s most comprehensive automatic forensic photogrammetry software that allows the user to perform accurate bio-metric measurements of the dimensions of a person (e.g. human body measurements), as well as crime scene measurements and geo-spatial crime scene analysis, which is only available in Cognitech’s software.

Cognitech, Inc. CEO Dr. Lenny Rudin said, in regards to the release of the latest forensic DeskTop and Mobile Forensic Video Workstations, “It is crucial to have a very fast computational ability in forensic video applications. A mere ten minutes of the CCTV recording, contains over 37 billion pixels to be enhanced or analyzed by forensic video software. The traditional computer, even if endowed with the latest multi-core processors, could take many hours or even days to compute the needed result. This is not acceptable in the fast moving world of the law enforcement’s forensic video applications. Enter the parallel algorithms for image processing and the massively concurrent (parallel) computer architectures. Some twenty plus years ago, as a PhD student at the California Institute of Technology, as a member of the scientific team, we have dreamed up a way of super fast ‘scalable’ computing, no matter how complex the computational task is at hand. In my PhD thesis, I considered the problem of enhancing images without introducing computational artifacts, which some years later became crucial in forensic applications. The Caltech teams proposed solution was twofold: the first step is to split the computational task into thousands (or millions) of smaller sub-tasks, with each to be computable concurrently. The second step was to map these thousands of mini-tasks onto the thousands of mini-processors that work together in harmony, as prescribed by the algorithm designer. In a way, this is how the human brain accomplishes the everyday task of seeing, connecting the eyes to the gazillions of brains neurons. Clearly, any delay in this computation would spell a serious survival problem to the brain’s owner. In a similar way, Cognitech’s scientists and engineers have figured out how to redesign, in a parallel fashion, complex forensic video processing tasks, such as Total Variation image deblurring and SuperResolution Frame-Fusion, so that they can be deployed onto the latest graphics cards, which are comprised of thousands of tiny graphical processing units. This integration of Cognitech’s proprietary, fast paralleled image/video processing algorithms and the computers with massively parallel processing hardware, have yielded the industry’s fastest Forensic Video Workstations (forensic Supercomputers), which we are announcing today. To top this good news, these new workstations are quite affordable, thanks to the recent industrial progress in dramatically reducing cost per graphic processing unit.”
