The competition uses 3rd party video capturing devices which were originally developed for post production and entertainment purposes.

Forensic acquisition devices are fully integrated within Cognitech’s forensic video Tri-Suite11 software.  The devices do not require any 3rd party hardware.

 

Each one of the forensic acquisition devices addresses different options and hardware configurations for the users to take advantage.  All share certain criteria, such as:

 

• Uncompressed 1:1 capture of the full video signal (including the under scan and over scan area)
• Accepting NTSC and PAL signal (US standard and European standard)
• Selective RGB 24 Bit and a YUV 4:2:2 data capturing option
• Frame or field based capture, as well as even or odd field separations
